2020 Census

If you haven’t already, your residence should be receiving the 2020 Census paperwork within the next few weeks. Please ensure you fill this paperwork out in a timely and accurate manner. There are certain tax dollars the city gets, which are based per capita; and the facts and figures provided by the census have proven to be extremely useful in all types of development.
If you do not fill and send back the Census 2020 paperwork, there will be Census workers who will stop door to door to obtain this information starting April 2020.
If you are interested to obtaining a temporary position with the Census (census taker, recruiting assistants, office staff, and supervisory staff), go to 2020census.gov/jobs.

Max Levy Public Hearing

The City of Worthington is preparing the annual budget for Fiscal Year 2020-2021. Iowa Senate File 634 requires a public hearing on the proposed maximum property tax dollars. You can view the maximum property tax dollars on the button below.

The City of Worthington now has in place a free emergency notification system for all our residents.  You are able to register as many phone numbers as you would like, however, it is your responsibility to update the system if your number changes. Click on the link below to register.

Restrooms at our Ballpark

Recently, another committee was formed to help devise a plan for construction of restrooms at our ballpark, as well as plan a fundraiser, and generate donations for this project. The committee is composed of five members: Chris Smock, Jeff Their, Paul Engler, Gary Langel, and Lauren Manternach. The restrooms will be constructed on the North side of the concession stand and the total project cost is estimated to be $43,267.42.  We have applied for the Theisen’s More for Your Community Grant, the Dyersville Area Community Foundation Grant, the Black Hills Energy Grant, and the Dubuque Racing Association. We have received confirmation that we were awarded $3,000 from the Dyersville Area Community Foundation Grant, and are still awaiting decisions from the others.

The committee will also host a fundraiser on February 29, 2019 at the Memorial Hall and have invited “Not Quite Brothers” to perform. We are anticipating construction to begin Spring 2020.

If you would like to donate, please make a check payable to the “Worthington Athletic Association”, you can mail it to: P.O. Box 197 Worthington, IA 52078. Thank you for your consideration!

Dubuque Racing Association Grant

The City of Worthington and the residents of our community want to extend a huge "thank you" to the Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) for approving a $3,500 grant for new library bookshelves. If it were not for entities like the DRA providing grant monies to small communities such as ourselves, there would be many projects we wouldn't be able to complete. We again, want to thank you sincerely! Please help me in recognizing the DRA (share, like, comment),
We will notify our residents once the books are on the new shelving and the library is open for businesses. We thank you for your patience during this time.
